Sandra Ishkanes is a Functional Medicine specialist. She takes a whole-body approach to healthcare, combining nutrition, lifestyle and cutting-edge medical testing.
Find out if it’s right for you.
If you are low in specific vitamins or minerals, have an imbalanced fat intake, are short of protein or eating unhelpful carbohydrates, making changes to your diet and lifestyle could help. Identifying and changing these on your own is difficult, but this is where Sandra is trained to help, with a 3 step plan.
1. The first step is a consultation lasting 1.5 hours
Together we will discuss your symptoms, medical, family, and personal history, your nutrition, exercise and sleep habits, as well as any other information that will help to clarify the factors behind your health concerns. We will review any medical records from your GP or speciality doctors and look at any previous lab test results, and if necessary arrange new tests.
2. Together we'll make a plan that works for you
We will discuss the results of my analysis of your health history, your goals and any obstacles that you feel are getting in the way of you achieving them and together we will draw up an initial health strategy. Often I find that a step-wise approach is advised, for example starting off with optimising digestive function, nutrition and sugar control, then moving to optimising detox pathways and balancing reproductive hormones at follow up consultations.
A three-month programme involving fortnightly or monthly meetings following the initial consultation is usually recommended.
The health optimisation plan is personalised to your specific concerns and requirements:
Your progress will be carefully monitored and the plan is adapted as required to achieve your goals and targets
3. Reap the benefits: confidence in your body and your health
Your health optimisation plan will help you achieve your health goals, as well as eat better, supplement smarter, de-stress and feel great.
As you make positive changes you will adapt to a higher level of consciousness and well being, and as you make new choices you will change your present and your future. To maintain momentum and a positive upward spiral we can periodically review your progress and discuss adaptations that need to be made to your strategy.
